When my cousin George was still alive he conjured amazing elixirs out of his vines in Enkirch a.d. Mosel. I asked him to ship at least some to Canada - too much paper. Meanwhile, the market here was spoiled by tankers full of - blegh - "Liebfraumilch".
Vollrads Spätlese '14 - still a bébé - is sunny with a cool breeze, with peach, fruit blossoms, a hint of underripe apple peel, delightful spritz, a suspicion of Pohutakawa honey - the unsweet-honey quality that melts into the 'buds - just beginning a long, long road toward bliss, perhaps not attaining George's marvels, but amazing, nonetheless.
