ypical of the region this is a GSM blend (50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre). Aged for 12 months in stainless steel vats (60%) and used oak barrels (40%). Tons of black pepper, black cherry, plum, jasmine, licorice. There's a creaminess and earthiness (slight mushroom). Tannins aren't intrusive, just a mild grip with mouth-watering acidity. 14.5% alcohol. Really enjoyable.

Medium-high aromatic intensity and complex with cassis, blackberry, dark fruit, oak spice aromas with a savoury component throughout. Hints of rocky mineral and peppery notes arrive as it opens up in the glass. The full-bodied palate is smooth and dense with finely knit tannins that have meshed into the palate very nicely. Dark, ripe fruit, plum, cassis with hints of peppery, savoury oak spices on the flavour profile. Acids are juicy and mouth-watering, while the finish is long, smooth and savoury. Last Tasted June/2018. Score: 90+ pts

Terrific value as Lavau's Vacqueyras is half the price of many CdP's, but with similar characteristics and quality. Bright medium ruby colour, cherry and dark fruit, meat, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanillin. Well balanced with medium plus tannin and medium acidity, but a touch hot (14.5% ABV declared). Very good to excellent length. Feb. 2018.
Solid, well made Vacqueyras with the expected ripe dark fruit, bolstered by notes of spice and herbs. Good balance, very little wood and a supple texture. The finish is merely good, so not quite 90pt+ in my view. Seems to be at its peak now, I don't see any reason to hold this further. Very good. Tasted Jan 31/20.
Maybe held it a bit too long, but muted for a Vacqueyras
