Really enjoyed this wine. Found it light and refreshing. Tasted Feb, 2011
This is my new bottle to go to under $10. It is very good.
Description to follow as I meander through my next bottle, but if you are looking for a value wine that does not suffer from the typical 2 dimentional falvour palette, this one is with picking up
Degrades quickly once exposed to air so open and consume bottle in 1 tasting. Decant 30 minutes before tasting. If exposed to air for 24 hrs, then bitterness and sourness appears but wine is still drinkable. Value rating 4.5 out of 5
I gave this wine an 88, but for value it's 100. I have yet to come across a more consistent quality red for under $10. As other users have pointed out, it may degrade quickly if left on the counter overnight, but if you put the screw cap back on and store it in the fridge, it'll be good for at least a week.
My favourite sub ten dollar wine I've encountered so far.
For the price: heck yeah.
This is made from monastrell or mourvedre as it's more commonly know.
Dark, dry, tannic, herbal with subdued fruit. Old world style for sure.
Not a sipping wine as such but goes great with bold food...spaghetti and spicy meat sauce in my case.
Degraded fairly quickly once opened. Open and drink in one night...leftovers did not fair well the next day. Drinkable but a sourness and acidity came to the fore.
If you're looking for something different at a steal of a price this is it.
I may stick a few in the cellar for a couple years just to see how it evolves.

rich
This medium bodied Monastrell has fruity notes of strawberry, red currant and prune. Tannins are subtle to refined (decant for 15 to 30 min) and the finish is medium and bretty. My impression: NOTHING SPECIAL, 86 pts. Tasted in Sept/10 during Spanish wine tasting - not popular despite its price.

well made wine, lacks a bit in the flavour profile for me, but a well made wine.

As mentioned, a good value for its price point. Run it through a wine breather to soften it a little. Great with pizza on a Friday night.
