This is a spicy, just off-dry gewürztraminer with lots of character. Aromas are of ripe pineapple, tangerine, litchi, a bit of red apple and stone fruits, rose petal, ginger, and honey. On the palate things take a different route, with tons of warm, (hot even) spicy ginger, white pepper, and nutmeg, then some fruit following through with bitter orange zest, ripe apple and stonefruit, and with the tropical fruit from the nose quite subdued. There is enough acid to balance things nicely, and with the spice and alcohol heat (13.5%), what sugar is there is not too noticeable. Tasted Apr. 2017.
