Galévan Paroles De Femme 2012, Côtes Du Rhône
Rhone Red Blend
Rhône, France
12,30 $ (293472)
This southern Rhone blend is anchored by grenache (60%) with mourvedre, cinsault and carignan (but no syrah). The Paroles de Femme name celebrates the fact that Coralie Goumarre is the first woman winemaker after nine generations of family ownership. This is mid-weight, quite firm, rustic and savoury red thanks to the relatively high 20% mourvedre component that lends its tannins and a sense of minerality to the finish. Look for generous sour plum, woodsy spice, earth, leather and some acetone on the nose and palate. It's mid-weight with a sweet and sour edge, then a dry tannic finish. Very good length. Best 2013 to 2015. (Tasted December 2012. David Lawrason, winealign.com)
