Unfortunately, the '10 never really shows what made the '09 so special, especially for the price, the lovely green pepper / herbal notes and the lavish red fruit. Instead, this Tempranillo-Monastrell-Garnacha blend is overwhelmed by oak, the powerful, admittedly enticing Bourbon-like nose of sweet vanilla cream and baking spices leading to rather less pronounced sour cherry and raspberry beyond, along with prune and other dried dark fruit, wrapped in a far less complex and far less integrated package. It still has its appeal, and it's still a great value, but it certainly doesn't overperform.
