Impressive by all standards...especially since every bottling year after year reflects this high quality. It's full and rich but composed and balanced. I highly recommend!

From one of my favourite producers, this Gigondas is at its peak. Medium bodied, with dominant notes of ripe red fruits, hints of herbs and black pepper. I like this wine to be sure, but I prefer Montirius' Vacqueryas bottlings which seem to be more distinctive (perhaps owing to their high content of Syrah, which is absent here). Still, this is a fine bottle to be sure and not badly priced by LCBO standards. Tasted April 2014.
This 07 old vines Gigondas from biodynamic producer Montirius still shows some brightness in the glass, but with some translucence setting in. Garnet edges but no brick yet. Gamey, bretty, barn, licorice, red berry fruit, tea leaves and bay leaves (garrique). On the palate, the Mourvedre comes through with pronounced pepper and some astringency left in the tannins. The finish is long and hot. Tasted May 2014.
Not bad, but not my favourite style.
