Affable and characteristic - a Chianti with old world feel and charm. With all the trappings fine wine production...

This Chianti Classico shows some ruby but it's starting to "garnetize". A fruity nose along with anise, tomato and tobacco. The palate offers similar flavours with tart cherry, licorice, white pepper and oaky vanilla from the sojourn in Slavonian oak. Mid weight, decent acidity, milder tannins and good to very good length. A bit of alcohol heat. Serve slightly chilled as a food muse to tomato based pasta sauce, charcuterie and older cheese. Hitting it's prime with not a lot of time left in the spotlight, so enjoy now. Oct. 2014.
Initially, a bit muted but opened up nicely especially on night 2. Characteristic Sangiovese notes of red and sour cherries, fine acidity and fine tannin. Good balance of flavours and structure. A fine food wine, as Chiantis should be. Tasted Aug 2014.
In line with a typical Chianti Classico. Took a good hour in the decanter before I truly appreciated it. Tasted October 2014.
