Personally, I’ve never been a huge fan of Canadian reds – always preferring more robust California, Australian and South African reds – but this one has really sold me on trying them again. It’s got everything in balance – it’s peppery with berry notes and mocha on the nose, but it’s got a bit of the finesse you find in French wines. The oak definitely does not overpower the wine. It’s certainly robust enough to stand up to beef stew, and I think would be a wonderful wine for filet mignon.
