Caves Alianca Vista Tr Tinto Roriz 2006, Beiras
Tempranillo
Portugal
$8.35 (89672)
Rich, ripe, generous, lots of dark and chewy fruit, good structure with no hard edges and good length. Stylistically it could be argued that it's about three quarters Portuguese and one quarter New World with the right blend of the best bits of both. Serve with full-flavoured meaty stews, or barbequed meats. Made from 85% Tinta Roriz and 15% Touriga Nacional grapes. Discontinued at LCBO

Med. intensity nose of leather, caramel, licorice, raspberry jam, tar.
Dry, med. body, medium, drying tannins. More restrained palate of tar, cooked raspberry, and charred wood. Good quality, good value.
Enjoy with pulled pork or St. George cheese.

Poorly balanced; hollow with noticible acidity and strong tannins.
