The bouquet is a bit musty, but the taste, well, it tastes like a classic Bordeaux. I think "correct" is the word critics use, by which I mean very good. It gets a bit better with every sip. Great value. The label on my bottle is different than the picture here, but it says the same thing so it must be the same wine.

Yummy mature french wine. Elegant and well balanced with cherry/plum mixing with leather/earth. Nice acidity, and refined tannins. This wine really evolved and opened up over the evening. It's not often you can get a solid (and mature) Bordeaux for under $30. Solid value.
The 2005 Château Plaisance Cuvée Alix, composed of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, has intense aromas of anise, wood, dried pomegranate and cherry. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, aged wine; with forward acidity, dusty/drying tannins (decant for 1-2 hours) and a medium to long finish. It is a food friendly and sipping wine; as the fruit is drying out, drink now – 2016. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 89 pts – surprisingly tastes like Ontario’s Cabernet Franc dominated wines – recommended for its quality. Tasted Jan/14.

Very reasonably priced wine, especially for 2005. However, it is a little shallow for my taste, leaves no aftertaste on the pallet. But a pleasant, easy to drink table wine to be sure. Just not very memorable.
