Note this is in a 500ml bottle. It pours quite pale garnet-tawny. The nose is almost floral with gentle spice,...

A beautiful amber in colour with a highly intense nose.

Positives: Lots of dried figs, dates, raisins, cedar, apricots, orange rind, pecan pie & almonds. Sweet, good acidity, a lot of heat from the high alcohol & long length.

Negatives: None.

Interesting Notes: Consistent year after year & easily accessible as its on LCBO general list. This tawny is in a 500 ml bottle.

Drink now with almonds & dark chocolate. You can lightly chill it or have it at room temperature of 18 degrees.

Tasted: 10 Mar 12

I've have a fair share of LBV, 10 and 20 yr. old ports and this one holds its own in the QPR shakedown.

For someone who wants to get into port without getting 'serious' this is a very nice bottle and will not let you down.

For a change of pace, try it extremely chilled.

Unpleasant tang bland Quickly, leaving nutty, spice, herbal, Almost bourbon-like aromas with a core of vibrant, citrusy dried fruit. Quite fresh and light in style, pretty sweet goal with just enough acidity. Would-have liked to see a touch more acid and some more savory Developed aromas. Also a fair bit of heat, but pretty good overall.

A gorgeous rusty orange-brown flecked with deep crimson and raspberry red, this easygoing tawny offers aromas and flavours of raisin and other dried fruit, raspberry, orange, nutmeg, and buckwheat honey, with some bitterness on the finish. Given its youth, there's not really much depth to it, and so it's quite light on the palate, and the length is only so-so, as it dries out quickly, but while relatively simple and shallow, and so not much of a sipper on its own, it's not overly sweet and is pleasantly versatile with all sorts of dessert, and so quite nice for what it is, limitations and all.

A very fair effort in terms of terms of 10 yr tawnies. A nice nuttiness mixed with apricots on the nose but a slight tang on the palate that fades with some air. Good sweetness and a nice round mouth feel. Better the next day. (northof9finewine, Feb 2011)
