Quite fine and refined on the nose, with finesse and elegance above the mean for the region/appellation, though...

Nice.

About 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah/Cinsault/Mourvedre/Carignan. Black cherry, plum and barnyard aromas from the cork. Medium+ intensity, perfumed nose of dried herbs, garrigue, black fruits, blackberry surrounded by earthy, barnyard elements. It is medium-to-full bodied with chunky, dusty tannins that are slightly drying, but well supported by good fruit concentration. Yummy flavours of violets, black cherry, black berry, and oak spices. It has juicy acids and is long finishing with earthy, black cherry flavours. Fantastic! Enjoy over the next 3-4 years. Tasted May/2016.

A nicely balanced red, though not as big or showy as many wines from the region. Ripe fruit, with a bit of tartness and fine acidity on the finish. Actually, the flavours and acidity call to mind Bordeaux as much as the south of France. Just needs a bit more depth to justify its $20 price tag. Drink now or hold for few years. Tasted Nov 2013.
