A fully mature, stylish mencía from Bierzo, still holding on to attractive dark fruit and floral character, and...
This shows very surprising youth for a 2006 - from the purple colour to the ripe fresh plummy fruit and firm tannin....

great
Beautiful example of a well cared for Mencia, this is a delightful Bierzo at an unbeatable price/value ratio. Ready to be enjoyed right now!
Simply astonishing value for such an excellent wine; deep, rich, and luscious, with awesome aromas of olive, pine, cedar, and loads of purple fruit, and complexity in the mouth to back it all up; solid tannic structure that benefits from some aeration; serious but approachable, and overall a fantastic effort.
Complex, heavy and very reach wine.
Interesting to try for sure.
But would not have more than one glass.
Made using the Mencía grape and highly fragrant with sinewy black fruits, violets, smoky oak and hint of barnyard from the glass. On the palate, it's full-bodied with very nice aroma replays, earthy and elegant oak spice. Big, smooth tannins are still full and integrating nicely. Very good acids and length. Ageing gracefully at 8 years old, will reward further 4-5 years in cellar. Expect some sediment. Reminds me of a Brunello. Amazing value. Tasted Aug/2014.

A deep, dark beauty. Very nice with a leg or lamb. 89/90
cherry fruit, a bit too much oak, quite complex, no hint of tannins, overall: nice and a great bargain at $15
Very nice wine

Deep purple. Plum, chocolate and bitter almond aromas carry through. Liked the prominent black pepper notes that lingered. Good value.
