Great value here in a generous savory, syrah base red with lifted pepper, caper, cherry and leather. It's mid-weight,...

Pepper, meatiness, black cherry, and leather on the nose. The wine is juicy with firm tannins, is medium-to-full bodied, and has a lingering aftertaste.
It's been several years since I bought this wine, so I thought that i was time for a re-visit. Loaded with notes of black pepper, incense, local herbs, balck olives and ripe dark fruit. Really, a bit of a wild tasting wine that certainly won't appeal to those looking for something mild! Very interesting and distinctive, and most importantly, enjoyable. Tasted Sept 2013.
This southern Rhone blend of syrah and grenache is a bit puzzling for me. There is some complexity and good length, but my bottle may have been a touch too volatile. Strong gamey notes, savouriness, spice, pepper, bitter herbs with a rustic, sharp edged attitude that softened a bit after decanting. It behaved a bit better with a down home meal of meatloaf, mashed taters and squash tian. Nov. 2013.
