Chabot Armagnac 1982
Armagnac
Southwest, France
$149.95 (286757)
The Chabot Vintage range is a rare collection aged in Gascon black oak casks. Each vintage dated brandy boasts a parchment authenticity certificate wrapped around the bottle and sealed with wax which indicates the year of harvest and exact date of bottling. This bright bronzed-amber coloured 1982 vintage (bottled on July 12, 2012) is aged to perfection. Complex, layered and delicate it’s still lively, yet mellow and smooth at the same time. Sweet vanilla bean combines with rancio and old cellar in the nose. The palate is old world, silk and lace, that’s haunting and memorable. Score: 96 (Margaret Swaine, WineAlign.com, Apr 2013)
