Big cassis jam, blackberry, floral, vanilla, chocolate, licorice, peppery, spicy, savoury, saddle leather, waxy aromas, very good complexity… even a bit Pauillac-like. Rich, full, round, smooth palate with fine, integrated tannins. Chocolate, vanilla, blackberry jam, cassis, cedar, floral, leather, coffee, licorice and tobacco flavours. A bit warm on the finish but great fruit intensity, balance and finesse to last 7-10 years. The ’08 Padrone is an 89/11 mix of cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Blend a bit different than the '07 with 89% Cab Sauv and 11% Merlot. Woodsmoke and plum aromas. Full-bodied with dark fruits and leather on the palate. Tannins are very chalky and need 2-3 years to settle down. Tasted Dec/2012.
