Caparzo Brunello Di Montalcino 2007
Brunello (Sangiovese)
Tuscany, Italy

Here's another terrific value Brunello from Caparzo, walking the fine line between traditional and modern, taking the best of both worlds. The appearance is pale garnet red, while the nose offers a mix of fruit and herbal spice, earth and dried mushrooms. Tannins are light and fine grained on the palate, while integrated alcohol and old wood flavours contribute additional complexity. Good to very good length. Not a highly concentrated wine, but one favourably axed on finesse and feminine elegance. Score: 91 (John Szabo, MS, www.WineAlign.com, Jan 2013)Critic Reviews (3)

My notes in french as They Were taken over a month ago ...: Wooo that's beautiful plonk! Beautiful mahogany color on the periphery, a ruby center. Peppery aromas and herbs. More appreciable length. A report-unbeatable value in this name!
This is a nice "lighter" styled Brunello that's ready to drink right away. I was surprised by how mature the wine was for a 2007, having tasted some 2004s and 2006s that still seem young by these standards.
It certainly on the elegant/feminine side of things, but still with lots of flavour and complexity.
I drank this with beef and found that the pairing really brought out the savoury notes in the wine.
Overall a very nice bottle of wine that didn't dissapoint, although would have probably liked it more if it was sub-$40.
