I could say some overused cliche about the rewards that come to those that wait... But, suffice it to say that if you have kept one of these in your cellar, it is ready! Recommend decanting as there was a bit of sediment. Very succulent CdP.
Enjoyed August 2018.

Deeply aromatic and flavourful, smooth, balanced with a long finish. Satisfying.

It's only wine but I like it

I must confess that I often find Chateauneuf de Papes a little underwhelming, often overly alcoholic and over ripe. This '10 CdP, though, despite the hefty 15.5% alcohol, has good balance. Yes, plenty of ripeness, but not over the top and just a bit of heat on the finish. I appreciate the concentrated dark fruit, supported by herbs and spice and a solid structure. Seems to be in a really nice place now, but no rush at all, this should keep at least another few years. Wish all moderately priced CdP's were this good. Tasted March 2017.

Deep ruby in colour with a medium intense nose.

An elegant Cháteauneuf-de-Pape

Positives: The dominance of Grenache shows up strongly here. This features light oak, mushroom, thyme, sage, black cherry, black currants, raspberry, plums, incense, forest underbrush and leather. Full body with medium to medium+ tannins, good acidity and a long length.

Negatives: A little hot from the 15.5% alcohol.

Interesting Point: Use a Syrah glass if you have one.

Drink now or over the next 7 years on its own or pair it with an aged rib eye steak.
