A totally different expression of grenache syrah (80/20) than the Rasteau L'Andeol. The eight hectare, old vines (50 years) vineyard is located on the Commune of Sarrians, south of the Dentelles de Montmirail. The fermentation split between wood and tanks for one month. Black colour and black liquorice dominate the senses. The attack is structured with dense plummy fruit flecked with red currants and a dash of minerality. The finish has an earthy, gamey note with bits of coriander. The winery suggests venison, or any big meat dish to match now or cellar for a decade. The black licorice was a little overbearing. I agree with John's opinion here; basic.
