This is a dandy barbera for the money, catching all the right sour cherry, slightly meaty/leathery and herbal notes...

Deep ruby red in color, this Barbera opens up with aromas of cherry, cranberry, leather, damp earth, clove and cinnamon spices. On the mouthfeel, medium bodied, slightly rustic, smoky texture, zesty acidity and dusty tannins. Medium length on the finish with sour cherry, leathery and smoky character lingering. This Barbera has more smoky oak then I am use to, but that being said, a very enjoyable wine and given the price, a very good value.

Light and crisp with an earthiness tinged, big, sour cherry nose. Tart berry fruit on the palate with a balance of violets. The juicy finish is furthered along by a cranberry/citrus zing. This needs a little food to balance out all that acidity, but slightly chilled with a slice of prosciutto, and it's all good.
