This dandy, deep, dark red that has been given some lift by the higher acid bonarda grape. It has a fragrant almost...

nice bouquet of smoky bark, vanilla and raspberry jam, the palate is silky, supple and graceful. So nicly done that it feels beautiful and devine. Drink the bottle with your queen and gallop away in a state of utmost bliss.

Here is this years first great value. A delicious Malbec blend that is perfectly priced for that Tuesday night tipple. You’ll be like Pooh bear on a pot of honey. It’s nice and plump, nice and sweet and it’ll put a perma-grin on your face. Throw on your red collared shirt that doesn’t cover your belly and lick this up with a wee bit of lamb sausage.

Great value here. Floral and black current on the nose. Lots of berry flavours, predominantly cherry and raspberry with a bit of licorice and smoke meat. Well balanced and long finish. It's missing a certain sophistication but it's quite tasty for sure.
Deep ruby in colour with medium to medium+ intensity on the nose.
Positives: Bramble fruit, cedar, blueberry, oregano & all spice on the nose. Taste shows blueberry, dark cherry, blackberry, plums, oregano, all spice & radish with spinach in the finish. Medium+ body, medium+ tannins, medium+ acidity & a very long length.
Negatives: A little too austere & green on the finish.
Interesting Thing: Thank you POA staff at Brantford (Mena, Sue, Roger & Jay; who picked the wine out, for providing me the wine.
Drink now or cellar for another 2-3 years. Pair it with protein foods like steak to smooth out the tannins & herbaceous notes.

Score: 8.5+, Value: 8.5+, Total: 18/20.

Tasted January 2012.
This Malbec dominated blend of Bonarda and Syrah just exudes the new-world southern hemisphere style of winemaking: redish/purple in the glass with aromas of dark fruit such as black currants and blueberries. A hint of initial sweetness brought on by the blueberry element and then it becomes slightly tart reflecting more of a cranberry flavour. The finish is quite long with dusty dry tannins and a hint of lingering black pepper spice. A big wine for sure that will pair nicely with a richly prepared red meat dish. Tasted Jan 2012.
