Ross Estate was founded by Pauline and Darius Ross in 1999 but some of the vineyard pre-existed as a grower property....

I'd write a review, but Paul Forget already did and it's bang on. I scored this wine a little higher based on the delicious factor. I also liked that it is a full bodied wine, but it's not heavy... Great wine.

A deep colour with a bouquet of black fruit, blueberry, blackcurrant, damp earth, smoke and fruit cake spices. The mouthfeel is rich with loads of fruit , yet not jammy, smooth texture with velvet tannins. The finish is long, fresh, smoky with excellent depth of flavour. An absolute beauty that is drinking well right now and is a real comfort wine.

Dark garnet to ruby in colour with medium+ intensity on the nose.
Positives: A powerful but not jammy Shiraz from Australia featuring cedar, peppers (white, red & black), bacon, plums, mesquite, dark chocolate, blackcurrants, tar, dark cherry & expresso. Full body with medium tannins, good acidity & a long length.
Negatives: Quite a bit of heat coming from the alcohol although it's only listed as 14%.
Interested Point: I purchased this wine at a LCBO store for $21.70, which makes it a best buy at that price).
Drink now on its own or pair it with braised lamb shank.
