This review is for the 2010 Cousiño Macul Antiguas Reservas Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a medium bodied, fruity wine, with appealing aromas of strawberry and raspberry on the nose and the palate. It has smooth tannins (decant for 30 min) and a medium-strawberry finish. Drink now or hold short term; food friendly. My impression: NICE, 88-89 pts. Tasted Nov/12.
The 2009 Cousiño Macul Antiguas Reservas Cabernet Sauvignon is a light to medium bodied, integrated wine, with nice aromas of strawberry, red currant, coffee fruit and smoke. It has a nice structure with refined tannins (decant from 15 to 60 min) and a medium finish. Drink now or hold short term. My impression: NICE, 89 pts - it is sold at the general section and for just a right price that was discounted to $15.45. Tasted Jan/12.

I have to agree with the other reviews this is an excellent wine, especially below $20. It has a vibrant nose of red fruit; raspberry and cherry, with a slight hint of smoke and vanilla. On the palate it is nicely balanced with minimal acidity and grippy but soft tannins. Darker berries, such as blackcurrants come through here, along with the aforementioned smoke and vanilla. Have it with a nice roast beef!
Tasted March 2012.
Acetone in the bouquet and taste, and decanting did not help. I suppose David and Steve rate it on how they think it going to taste in two years, but I am rating it as it is now. Is this really going to improve that much in two years?
If so, why do the producers release it too early? Most consumers do not have the ability to cellar wine, especially those buying at that price.
Give this one a miss.
