I find the ratings here a little modest. I really like this wine. Tastes much more expensive and I think it's really good value. Fruity, excellent nose, long smooth finish. 24 months in oak gives it a rich smooth flavour. I've never had a 100% Petit Verdot and I would highly recommend this one if you are looking for something different. It recommends a double decant on the bottle, but it tastes pretty good right out of the bottle.

amazing stuff. really if you like big fruit bombs, but with structure, all of Pirramimma's wines are amazing.

The 2006 Pirramimma Petit Verdot is medium bodied, with fruity to INTEGRATED notes of strawberry, raspberry, violets, oak and coconut. I was looking for that milk chocolate note that Julian Hitner mentions and I could almost perceive it, almost. Tannins are subtle to refined and the finish is long and smooth, especially once it opens up (decant for more than an hour). The acidity is nice and refreshing - this would make a nice RED summer wine. As far as ageability, not sure what to say due to the screw cap enclosure - I guess I will find out. My impression: NICE TO BEAUTIFUL, 91 pts - a definite recommendation, not only due to its complexity, but 100% Petit Verdot is a gem. Tasted Apr/11.
