Marqués De Murrieta Finca Ygay Reserva 2005, Doca Rioja
Critic Reviews (2)
This is a typical Rioja blend of 80% tempranillo with garnacha and mazuelo. It has a powerful, very mature oaked nose...
This is a rather advanced, oxidative example from Murrieta, with plenty of sandalwood, dill, and resinous-wood...

The 2005 Marqués De Murrieta Finca Ygay Reserva, composed of 84% Tempranillo, 13% Garnacha and 3% Carignan (Mazuelo), is a medium to full bodied, integrated wine, with intense aromas of red currant, cherry, pine/oak and vanilla. It has a nice structure, refined tannins (decant for 30 min) and a long, smooth finish. Though ready to drink now, this wine will age nicely for the next 10+ years. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 92 pts - an elegant traditional Rioja, with wood notes that are not overpowering - recommended buy. Tasted July/12.

Tasted April 2015. Nose is full of raised fruit and a lovely leathery and herbatious tone that just screams old world. Fantastic stewed fruit with hints of vanilla and dill on the palate. Silky Tannins, balanced acidity and a long dusty finish. A bit of alcohol heat.
Tasted Feb. 2013.
