The 2009 keeps this as one of the best red values at LCBO. It is a flavourful, fragrant red from Puglia made from the...

Rustic and fresh with a mild acidity, popping full flavors of plums and currants, pleasant linger of raisins and a flick of cedar… Outstanding young wine at an amazing price. I've added three bottles to my wine rack as a good stand-by red.. Tasted 13-Oct-2010

Cherries, prunes and tobacco on the nose. Medium-to-full bodied, but the alcohol and tannin stands out from the rest of the palate. May not improve with time.

At first I was unimpressed.
It seemed to have a unfinished, rough, biting feel.
The second bottle (Not at the same time :-) did appeal to me more. Not sure if it was the paring, or, just the state of mind.

For $8.00, it is a good wine to have at the table for drinking, but, there are a few at this price I have on my list to replace before this one.

I see why Steve picked this as a Top 50 Value pick - in fact it may be #1.
I've actually created a new category in my wine catalogue for Mezzomondo called "I can't stop drinking this and I can't believe the price". Classic Salento - it tastes like a wine at twice the price.

A youthful nose of blackcherries. The palate has firm acidity, fine tannins, and a medium body. Blackfruits and cracked pepper for flavours and medium length. Straightforward and great value. Feb 2011

Loads of burnt rubber and prunes on the nose upon opening. The rubber blew off in time leaving dark stewed prunes and herbal notes. Medium body, savoury, high toned, rustic, flavourful but not very dense. A steal for sure but I can't imagine this getting better with time. If anything I suspect the fruit will dry out and it will become even more rustic. Better to drink it now while it has some fruit to go along with it's vigour.

Very good value and nice drinking wine at the dinner table.

Much nicer than the people from the southern parts of Italy who are apathetic and totally indifferent to the world.

Definately has that Leathery taste, didn't really taste much else. Would like to try again and decant longer. Tasted Feb, 2011
