Skouras Wild Ferment Assyrtiko 2022, P.G.I. Peloponnese

It’s the Peleponnese and not Santorini but if it smells and tastes like assyrtiko, well then it truly is assyrtiko....
An intensely ripe and unusually fruity example of assyrtiko here, though the variety generally presents more fruit...

The attractive, medium-high intensity nose is ripe & inviting with a lovely mix of lemon citrus, leesy mineral, grapefruit & tropical fruit aromas, plus hints of white peach, floral & saline adding further complexity. It's medium-full bodied & dry on the nicely structured palate with delicious grapefruit, lemon citrus, leesy mineral, peach & floral replays. Some saline & spice characters appear on the mid-palate. Acids are fresh & juicy with nice structure. It's nicely balanced throughout with citrusy, mineral & subtle spice notes lingering on the long and very juicy finish. Tasted Nov. 2023.
