Pfaffenheim Pinot Blanc 2008, Alsace
Pinot Blanc
Alsace, France
$6.05 (Agent)
This is one of the more expressive pinot blancs on the market, from a grape that doesn’t often show distinct character. Deeply gold in colour, it has a ripe apricot and floral note mindful of Easter lily, as well as some earthiness. It’s medium bodied, smooth and quite rich, but enlivened by some acidity. Nothing special here, except for the low price. Lots of acid from the citric fruit as lime & grapefruit. A simple wine that goes best with white fish or fried calamari.
