Mainly Grenache plus Carignan, Mourvèdre, and Syrah. The medium-high intensity and fresh aromatics are intriguingly herbal with spice, dark red berry, raspberry, and touches of stone, charcuterie and meaty notes adding further interest. The medium-full bodied palate is rich, structured and slightly warming with dark red berry, garrigue, licorice, spice, clove, and hints of plum flavours. Acids are juicy and well-balanced, while the structured tannins are smooth, refined and have a subtle chalky texture. Savoury and earthy notes come to the fore on the long, juicy finish. A bit of a strange combination of jammy ripe fruit, high alcohol, and tart, coarse acidity. A fairly simple wine that provides only modest drinking pleasure. Overpriced at $21. I suppose it is the "Rasteau" on the label allows for a price premium over generic Cotes du Rhone - it certainly is not what is in the bottle. A '17 Brunel Cuvée Sabrine Côtes Du Rhône Villages that I had 2 weeks ago was much better - a $5 cheaper. Tasted Feb 2022.
