Very herbal and earthy. Notes of anise, blackberry, smoke, menthol, wet leaves, dark volcanic minerality, and black pepper which permeates the nose and carries forward to the palate. The wine is dry. Medium body with very fine, medium minus, tannins and medium acidity. Great length.
Quite enjoyed this wine. My notes by chance were close to those of Mr. Thurlow's with the addition of quite a black pepper hit.
Unpleasantly over-oaked nose, erring on the side of burnt that dominates over perhaps some blackberry. Astringent body with heavy burnt notes again dominating over fruit. Vanilla and pepper on the finish where finally some blueberry ekes through. WAY overpriced for its structure. 81 points.
