Georgian Hills is a small winery with vineyards in the Beaver Valley in the Georgian Bay region of Ontario, a partnership between well known wine marketing consultant Robert Ketchin and the apple growing Ardiel family. Planting began in the late 2000s, with a mix of French American hybrids like vidal, seyval blanc, marechal foch and a small amount of L'Acadie Blanc, plus cool climate vinifera like riesling, chardonnay, gamay and pinot noir. But the vinifera were no match for the frigid winters of 2014 and 2015, so pull-out and replanting is underway with winter hardy Minnesota hybrids like marquette and frontenac.
