Five generations of the Mowat family have farmed in Niagara; the last two are responsible for Harbour Estates, which has been growing grapes and making wine since 1999. The vineyard is beautifully situated on the waterfront of Jordan Harbour’s east shore in the Creek Shores appellation. Ken Mowat makes a wide range of agreeably priced wines, with notable success for Riesling; the white Chardonnay-Vidal blend, Sunrise; and the red Cabernet–Merlot blend, Midnight. Summer events on the property include live music acts-this year’s Rock n’ Ribs Fest, in September, will feature classic Canadian rockers April Wine-a 10th anniversary party and the Great Grape Stomp.
