Janet Dorozynksi, PhD, DipWSET
Janet Dorozynski has been tasting, studying and working in and with the international and Canadian wine industry since the end of the last century. While living in Brussels and completing a PhD in Demography and Women’s Studies from Concordia University, Janet became captivated by all things wine, and beer, spirits, cider and food. In 2000, she packed in the papers to work for Wines of South Africa at their headquarters in Stellenbosch.
Since returning to Canada, she has worked for industry and government in various roles in international business development, marketing and public and government relations as well as taught about wine and the business of wine at Niagara and Algonquin Colleges. Janet holds the WSET Diploma, is a WSET certified educator and a Professional Affiliate of Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI). She has been reviewing, writing, travelling to wine regions and presenting, judging and organizing wine and sommelier competitions in North and South America, Europe and Asia for over twenty years. Janet is a principal critic and writer at WineAlign, the wine columnist for Luxe Magazine Ottawa and the Canada contributor to the upcoming 5th edition of the Oxford Companion to Wine. She has contributed to the Canada section for the sixth and seventh editions of the World Atlas of Wine and Jancis Robinson et.al. Wine Grapes and written Canadian wine and spirits content for WSET Global wine certification courses. Janet was a long time writer for Vines Magazine and her writing has appeared in Quench Magazine, Gismondi on Wine, Jamie Goode’s WineAnorak.com and WineTelevision.com, Canada’s earliest online wine publication and TV series.
