DJ Kearney

DJ Kearney is the Director of Wine at NewDistrict.ca, an innovative online marketplace for B.C. and international wine, and spirits. Here she oversees wine selections and purchasing, and curates mixed packs of wine, spirits, and knowledge for both the online platform, and the New District physical store. In almost two decades in the wine business, DJ has trained over a thousand sommeliers throughout North America, judged, presented and travelled around the world, and tasted thousands of wines in pursuit of quality and value. She has been the Drink Editor for Vancouver Magazine, the Chief Judge for several wine competitions including the long-running VanMag Wine Awards, and initiated a judge mentorship program across Canada for WineAlign.  DJ teaches the WSET programs at all levels, and is the Vice President and Competition Technical Director for CAPS-B.C.  DJ has a special devotion to wines of her home province, and frequently speaks, writes, and teaches about British Columbia wines. In 2015 she initiated the Judgment of B.C. which has since become an annual marquis event. She is also a classically trained cook, an ardent locavore, and sports fanatic.
