Laurent Perrier Cuvée Brut Rosé Champagne ($10 off until Dec 31)
$109.95 (was $119.95), Noble Estates Wines & Spirits
93 points – Sara d’Amato – A consistently successful, non vintage rosé cuvée made from 100% pinot noir sourced from 10 different crus from the northern Montagne de Reims as well as from the south including those of Côte de Bouzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Louvois and Tours‑sur‑Marne. The wine is aged a minimum of 5 years before release but since no disgorgement date is given, the age of individual bottles is not known. According to the LCBO, this is the world’s best selling rosé Champagne despite the steady climb in price. The cuvée most recently tasted is notably polished and delicately toasty with a vivacious character and very good depth of flavour. A classic and a benchmark example of this style with a generous Brut dosage that contributes to a voluminous mouthfeel. Salty with notes of apricot and raspberry along with just a hint of oxidation.
Laurent Perrier La Cuvée Brut Champagne (150 Aeroplan Bonus Points until Dec 30)
$79.95, Noble Estates Wines & Spirits
93 points – John Szabo, MS – Fine complexity in a very toasty, yeasty ensemble, classically styled in a bold and assertive expression, impressively proportioned and a relatively sharp value. I’d have to say, this is one of the finer LP bruts I’ve tasted, a step or two above the Champagne mean at the price.
