In the past twenty years the B.C. wine industry has seen fantastic growth, from 60 wineries in 2000 to almost 300 in 2020. Most of the new wineries are relatively small, with investment by individuals from Vancouver and Alberta. In the last five years the scale of a few new mega-projects has become dazzling, some based on investment from outside Canada. Recently Canada’s largest wine companies have also poured investment into B.C., purchasing and upgrading some smaller wineries. The Okanagan in particular is starting to resemble Napa Valley in California in terms of magnificent wineries and restaurants.

It is wine quality however that is driving that growth and spreading the reputation far and wide. The quality is a direct reflection of much improved viticulture that interprets the geography, and technical expertise in the wineries – both fuelled by highly trained winemakers flocking to this new frontier from abroad, and from Canadian colleges and universities. They are drawn by the sense of frontier adventure, and living in a great region (and country) but they quickly discover that B.C. is a land of can-do spirit and a hotbed of innovation.

The B.C. Black Case captures this collective experience and excitement with a range of excellent wines – in particular those big reds – that impress with their breadth and depth, some to enjoy now others to tuck away in the cellar.

The Details:

The B.C. Black Case (mixed 12-pack) ships in early May 2020 ($593/case + delivery fees). In order to know the number of committed participants, we require a $100 refundable deposit to secure every order. All credit card charges through the Exchange will show up with the WINE- prefix on your credit card statement. For every case that is processed through the WineAlign Exchange there will be three charges on your credit card: WINE-Deposit, WINE-Purchase and WINE-Reconcile & Ship.
