Julian (97): More indulgent than the past two vintages, the 2009 Solaia tips the scales as one of those rare wines that manage to seamlessly combine intensity and power with a clear sense of refinement and breed. Opaque black-ruby in colour, this stunning offering showcases unbelievable aromas of milk chocolate, currants, blackberries, black raspberries, charcoal, licorice, forest floor, pain grille, vanilla, and spice. Truly complex, wielding exquisite, full-bodied fruit, very firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a long-lasting, electrifying hint of chocolate, blackberries/black raspberries, and charcoal on the finish. Near-perfect, multilayered, and completely harmonious. This will easily keep for over two decades. 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, and 5% Cabernet Franc. Now-2032++.
