Lighthall has been producing excellent Pinot in the southern part of the county for some time now. The '14 Quatres Anges is delightful. It sits light ruby and somewhat translucent in the glass. A fragrant lifted nose showing cherry, cranberry, a leafy element and some beet earthiness, along with County stoney minerality. Oak is nicely woven imparting slight baking spice aromas (cinnamon, nutmeg). The palate is creamy silk in a medium body frame with juicy acidity and mild tannin. There's a bitterness (not unpleasant) to the long finish. Pair with creamy beet soup or duck. Jan. 2017.
